In the upcoming season, the largest competition within the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup will take place under the Ponce mountains, and for the first time in history, it will also host a women’s event on the Gorišek brothers’ ski flying hill.
The international public still remembers the exceptional achievement of Domen Prevc, who set a world record of 254.5 meters this March, further cementing Planica’s reputation as the valley of world championships and records.
On this occasion, the Secretary General of OC Planica, Tomaž Šušteršič, presented the key organizational steps leading to the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup Finals, which will be held from March 26 to 29, 2026. He also highlighted the preparations for the FIS Ski Flying World Championships in 2028, which will once again put Planica in the spotlight of the global sports community.

Another topic of the presentation was the strategic decision of FIS, which, through rule changes, has allowed the enlargement of all ski flying hills. Planica was among the first to start preparing such a project, which in the coming years will require extensive and demanding steps.
“An era of intensive preparations and many challenges lies ahead of us, but also new opportunities. We are proud that Planica will host a women’s event for the first time, and that we can actively contribute to the development of ski jumping at the global level. Our goal remains clear – to keep Planica as a synonym for the climax of the season and the home of world records,” emphasized Tomaž Šušteršič during the presentation.
